Sol "Tack" Esarey, 97, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2020. Tack was a proud veteran of the United States Navy who specialized in underwater demolition during World War II. He was a long-time member of Georgetown Southern Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Tack loved being outdoors, whether it was fishing or hunting, and will be remembered for his ability to fix almost anything. He enjoyed sports and was a diehard Indiana Hoosier and Cincinnati Reds fan. Tack retired in 1986 after 34 years of service working at the Henry Vogt Machine Company in Louisville, KY, where he was a welder and supervisor.
He was born on October 9, 1922, in Alton, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Rose (Johnson) Esarey. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Rosanne Esarey; brothers, John, Bob, and Dave Esarey; granddaughter, Kelly Mutchler; and great grandson, Logan Evans.
Tack is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Colleen Esarey; daughter, Sue (Sam) McGill; son, Bill (Leslie) Esarey; son, Joe (Nikki) Esarey; grandchildren, Brucker, Lauren, Joe, Hannah, and Elizabeth; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions with burial to follow at Orchard Knob Cemetery in Alton, Indiana.
