Sherrie Smith , 46, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019. She was born in Louisville on February 6, 1973. Sherrie was a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church where she was a lead soloist in the choir beginning at a young age. Not only did she sing, but she also was a producer, songwriter, performer and actress. She wore many hats, but her favorite was being a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Sherrie is preceded in death by her mother, Evie Briscoe; her lifetime parter and friend in music, Eric Ware; her grandfather, James Rutledge and her grandmother, Lillie Mae Smith.

Left to cherish her memory is her children, Eric (Vanessa) Smith, Nicholas Smith, Quinn Smith and Asia (Alan Todd, Jr.) Ware; grandchildren, Jamaria Smith, Jayden Smith, La'Jayven Smith, John Wright, Jr., Alaysia Todd, Jasmine Brown, Gregory Brown and Alan Todd, III; her father, Earl Marshall Whitten and her Daddy, Charles Briscoe; her siblings, Raphael (Nina) Smith, Nae Nae Smith, Shonda (Louis) Pumphrey, Diana Keelin, Carmelita Sanford, Joseph Gill and Terri Andrews; her best friends, Joyce Welch, Chantel Mack-Boone, Cere Dewalt; a special partner who she spent some of her last memories with, Troy; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends, too many to name.

A memorial service to celebrate Sherrie's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Eastern Star Baptist Church, 2400 Howard Street. A gathering of friends and family will take place at the church from 12:00-2:00 pm before the service.
