1933 - 2019

Robert Joseph Popp, 86, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. He was a United States Army veteran that served his country during the Korean War. Bob was a member of the KofC Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 and Telephone Pioneers of America. In his younger years, Bob was an outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting. He and his wife traveled across North America camping, and, after retirement, they became winter Texans at South Padre Island.

He was born on September 7, 1933, in Sellersburg, Indiana, to the late Robert M. and Hedwig (Wundrak) Popp. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Book) Popp; son, Michael Popp; granddaughter, Alexandra Popp; and siblings, Theodore Popp, Edward Popp, and Ann Marie Sanderfer.

Bob is survived by his children, David Popp (Pam), Cheryl Freiberger (Jim), Karen Schueler (Barry), Gary Popp (Julie), and Brenda Robertson (Patrick); daughter-in-law, Patty Popp; brothers, Albert Popp (Doris) and Charles Popp (Ilona); sister-in-law, Donna Popp; brother-in-law, William Sanderfer; 20 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 St. Joe Road West, Sellersburg) with burial and military honors to follow in the church cemetery.
