Stephen Gregory "Steve" Becht, 62, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Stephen was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and was a faithful employee of Rauch Industries until 2002. Steve loved music, especially country, with Johnny Cash being his favorite singer. Steve loved children and collecting for the Crusade for Children every year was his passion. He would always say, "I'm doing it for the kids!"

He was born on December 4, 1956, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Richard and Hilda (Batliner) Becht. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Gullett; niece, Julie Schmidt Greer; and brothers-in-law, David Heilig, Larry Gullett, and Paul McCauley.

Stephen is survived by his loving sisters, Nina (John) Schmidt, Juanita McCauley, and Evelyn Heilig; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Chapel with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Stephen’s memory be made to WHAS Crusade for Children.
