John E. Hermes, Sr., 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019.

He was born on January 16, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky to Leo Hermes and Thelma Ott. He is preceded in death by his Father, Leo Hermes, Mother, Thelma Dries, Step-Father, Sylvester Dries.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gail F. Hermes, son, John E. (Cathy) Hermes, Jr., son, Bruce A. (Tracie) Hermes, daughter, Shannon G. Hermes, 6 grandchildren, Jordan Loeser, Anne Hermes, John (Samm) Hermes III, Lauren (Gary Jarboe, Jr.) Hermes, Corey Hermes, Anthony Hermes, 2 great grandchildren, Jocelyn & Blaine, special friends, Pete & Lois Mohr.

Visitation will be Saturday September 14, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 4 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Private family inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in John's memory be made to American Diabetes Association.
