She was born on July 14, 1927, in New Albany, Indiana, to Charles and Georgia (Hoffman) Gehring. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Daugherty; son, Joseph Daugherty; brother, Bernard Gehring; sister, Catherine Kersteins; brother, Apples Gehring; sister, Frances Gehring; and sister, Martha Duggan.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Susan Daugherty; daughter, Theresa (Donald) Wolfe; son, John (Sandy) Daugherty; daughter, Jane (Paul) Buttrum; daughter in-law, Caroll Daugherty; grandchildren, Adam Wolfe, Alex (Brittney) Daugherty, Austin Daugherty, Jennifer Martin, and Ashley (Dishmond) Fields; great-grandchildren, Christian Martin, Jace Fields, and Braxton Fields.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.
