Edwin Leroy "Ed" Peter
1943 - 2019

Edwin Leroy "Ed" Peter, 76, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 19, 2019. He was a proud veteran and retiree of the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Major. Ed also worked as a supervisor and caseworker for the Indiana Division of Family & Children. He was an active volunteer at the Falls of the Ohio State Park, as well as a member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilot Association, American Legion Post 42, Phi Sigma Epsilon, and the Audubon Society.

He was born on January 8, 1943, in Pulaski, Indiana, to the late Linvel and Gertrude (Fitz) Peter. Ed is preceded in death by his brothers, Marlin, Ronald, and Richard Peter.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Fammie (Dinkins) Peter; sons, Eugene (Charity), Eric (Lisa), and Elliot Peter; siblings, Linda Good, Merrill Peter, and Jo Ellen Hostetter; and grandchildren, Kristina, Cheyanne, and Evan.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. His funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. Burial with military honors will take place at a later date at Indian Creek Cemetery in Pulaski, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Ed’s memory be made to Faith Lutheran Church (2014 Allison Lane, Jeffersonville, IN 47130) or to the Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center (201 W. Riverside Drive, Clarksville, IN 47129).
