Mary Ellen (Glotzbach) Ward

Mary Ellen (Glotzbach) Ward, 72, of Sellersburg, Indiana, joined her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 19, 2018, after a courageous, long battle with cancer.

She was born December 4, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late William J. And Gladys (Spangler) Glotzbach. Mary Ellen graduated from Wolcott High School and married Douglass D. Ward on May 29, 1965, after a short courtship. She worked at State Farm Insurance, Lebanon Reporter, Mapother and Mapother, Lincoln Mercury Dealer, L & N, Farm Credit Banks, and Obelisk Federal Credit Union before retiring in 2005. Mary Ellen was an active member of St. John Paul II where she was active with the quilting team, finance team, funeral choir, and rosary leader and enjoyed her Bible studies. She was an avid collector of angels.

Surviving are her husband, Doug Ward; sons, Scott (Colleen) of Evansville, Indiana, Greg (Tammy) of New Albany, Indiana, and Kevin (Candy) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; grandson, Kenny; granddaughters, McKendree and Madison; step-grandchildren, Kristin Faith (Eric) and Nick Bray (Jami); seven great-step-grandchildren; sister, Barb Glotzbach Mathew; and brother, Ron Glotzbach.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Loman.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 West St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
