William Carl “Bill” Hardin, 84, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018. He was a long-time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and the Laborers International Union #795. Bill worked for L. Thorn Company for 30 years until his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served in Korea.

He was born on February 25, 1934, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Harry Charles, Sr., and Martha (Grose) Hardin. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Harry Hardin, Jr., Melvin Hardin, Donald Hardin, Louise Barker, Wanda Atwood, Irma Moore, Mary Lou Ramsey, Jeanetta Melton, and Norma Hardin.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Vonda (Schroeder) Hardin; daughters, Carla Lewis, Karen Hennessey (Dale), and Cheryl Young (Dwayne); brother, James Hardin (Beth); brother-in-law, Beverly Atwood; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church Chapel (5719 St. Mary’s Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus-the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150) or JDRF (11902 Brinley Avenue, Suite 100, Louisville, Kentucky 40243).
