Viola "Vickie" (Messer) Selent,79, of Henryville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Vickie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany and loved working in her flower gardens, traveling, cooking, and being with her family.

She was born on February 23, 1939, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to the late Fred Messer, Sr., and Dora (Russell) Allen. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wiley Messer, Fred Messer, Jr., Arlie Messer, Danny Lee Messer, Gary Messer, Beulah Wyllys, Sonya Jones, and Edna Peyla.

Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Bud Selent; children, Rhonda Dzurko, Richard Vancas, and Paula (Rob) Piunti; grandsons, Robby and Vinny Piunti; siblings, Bryan Messer, Herdis Allen, Jr., Freddie Williams, Lillie Mae Campbell, Helen Hurschik, Nila Combs, Kathleen Godsey, and Nancy Williams.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, (1787 Klerner Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with cremation to follow.

The family requests that contributions in Vickie’s memory be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
