Carl Anthony "Jinks" Thomas, 62, of Shelbyville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018.

Carl Anthony Thomas was born April 14, 1956 the fourth child of George Richard Thomas Senior and Anna Geneva Reed Thomas in Shelbyville, KY along with a infant sister, Beverly Ann Thomas who preceded him in death.

He departed this life peacefully on September 14, 2018 at the University of Louisville Hospital. Carl attended Shelbyville High School. He received his G.E.D. later in the service of his country. He was an excellent swimmer. He could be found swimming with his childhood friends Tony, Benny and his brother George. He attended Whitney M. Young Job Corp. Center where he earned a degree in Masonry. In 1979 he joined the United States Army and attended quartermaster school at Fort Lee,Virginia. He was a fabric repair specialists. On July 1988 he received an honorable discharge from the Army National Guard as a SP4 from Camp Grayling,MI. He was employee at Southwestern warehouse for many years he also work for Walmart and preceding his death he was employed by Bemiss Cleaning Service.

Carl met his wife Sharon Marie Wimsett in Owensboro,Kentucky and married on April 13,1990. For 29 years they made their home in Shelbyville Kentucky. They were blessed to have a blended family of four children, Carl Hudson, Lynette Bailey, Sanchaz Johnson and Demontae Thompson.

Carl will be remembered for his natural love of family and friends. His quick and ready smile welcomed everyone. He had a real zest for life. His friends had many nicknames for him Jimmy Jimmy, dollar bill, but the one that stuck was Jinks because his initials are C.A.T. He loved to play basketball and shoot pool until he was unable to do so. He loved the Louisville Cardinals that was his team and almost always wore his cardinal hat. He loved to pick on his wife about being a UK fan. Anyone was welcome at their home and many stayed with them. Before there was a taxi cab there was Jinks. He was physically in pain most days, but never refused anyone a ride always with a smile a mile wide and a joke. His children and grandchildren was his greatest pride and joy. He was so proud of them. They all said dad was her best friend because he listen to them and never judged. He will be missed by all who loved him. It is a great loss that will be felt by all.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, sons Carl Hudson (Brandy),Sanchaz Johnson, Demontae Thompson and his daughter Lynette Bailey, grandchildren Branson Johnson, Trasan Johnson, Jamien Kinson, Kaden Johnson, Alivia Iler and AmiyaIler brother: George Thomas Jr. sisters; Gwendolyn Jones and Carolyn Thomas, and his closest friend Steve Jackson.

He is also survived by his brother in laws; Ronnie Johnson, John Winstead Jr., Charles Howard, Robert Wimsett Jr.(deceased) and Donald Jones, sister-in-laws; Ann Young, Loretta Stanford, Ida Thomas and Joanna Miller. As well as two aunts; Mrs.Florence Harris and Mrs.Margaret Murphy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are like family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm at Shelby Christian Church (2375 Frankfort Road Shelbyville, KY 40065) with burial to follow at Grove Hill Cemetery.
