A simple but strong way to sum up what Matt meant to me:
If my girls marry men who are half the person he was I wil gladly walk them down the aisle on their wedding day.

Matt,
Simply put, you were one of the most amazing, selfless, caring, and most importantly, genuine, humans that has ever walked God's green earth. I am honored to call you my coach but even more so honored to call you my friend.
You made this world a better place, and you made me a better man with the way you carried yourself and treated others. You will be missed by many and hope your family knows just how much of a positive impact you had on so many lives.
Rest in Peace, Matt. You're with your Lord and Savior now.
~ Dwight Coulter - July 4, 2018

Martha, Gary and family,
We are very sorry for your loss. Your family is in our prayers.
~ Ed and Laura Komasara - July 3, 2018
I remember the first day Matt walked into our running backs meeting room as a freshman. I had to keep checking if his arms were bigger than mine or not. He ran hard against our 1st team defense - he had no fear, all determination. But my best memory of Matt came years after I graduated. I was leading a small group at our church in Michigan and came across the 'not a fan' study by Kyle Idleman. We used it in our group and I looked for more stories/videos that I could use to supplement. When I came across Matt's video by accident, I was overwhelmed. I was proud of the boldness of his faith and the way he was choosing to walk it out. I know his loss brings many tears, but I know he is with Jesus and I know that through his health struggles, his faith was put on public display and many others will get to be with Jesus as a result. I will continue to pray for the family and for more lives to be touched through the service today. 'For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'
~ William Henagan - July 3, 2018
I saw Matt’s video testimony on the ‘Not a Fan’ web site. His genuine and courageous witness for Christ blessed and challenged me. He has his reward!
~ Ken Idleman - July 3, 2018

I remember asking Matt on our way to his house, how to get to heaven. Matt said “Hayes, do you believe in God, I said yes, he said your going to heaven, all you have to do is believe Hayes.”
During a football game Matt hit me so hard my face mask was bent and sideways. Matt helped me off the ground, as I adjusted my entire helmet I said “Cap was that you, he said “yeah, sorry Hayes.” I said “I just got buried and we are on the same team!
Lifting weights everyday after school.
Matt is the closest thing to Superman there is. I will see you again my friend!
To the Cappotelli’s I am absolutely crushed to hear this news! My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Your family holds a close spot in my heart, you have impacted me greatly! Matt was truly cut from a different cloth. He is the baddest football player I’ve ever played with yet a better friend. RIP Superman.

Dear Lindsay, Martha, Gary & Adam,
May God ease the burden of your loss. Matt was true competitor. He met every challenge he faced on the field with strength and confidence, and he made everyone around him stronger. I saw an article on my google feeds, so I was compelled to respond. You don't know me, but I was huge fan of Matt's when he was in Tough Enough. He did so great. I was saddened by his diagnosis and that his career was stopped way too soon. I wanted you, as his wife to know that I was a fan and it makes me sad that he's gone. Take care. First saw Matt when he was a contestant on Tough Enough 3! Instantly became my favorite because of how he handled himself in times of adversity! He was truly destined for great things, and was destined to be a huge star, but in our eyes, he accomplished so much more in life, than we all could even think about! To Lindsay, Gary, and Martha, our thoughts and prayers are with you in this tough time! Just know, you have a truly bright and shining guardian angel watching over you!

I met Matt at Western Michigan University. We both were on the football team. I was a couple years ahead of him. I can quite vividly remember the passion Matt had on the field. We went against each other quite a bit my senior year. Matt had a "motor" and would go 100% in practice. I would get so mad when we had a special team practice drill and Matt would fly down the field and I would have to block him. Or when I had to block him on the punt squad. One day I got so mad I gave him a cheap shot after a play and he got in my face(as he should of). It was then I realized that I was jealous of the passion Matt had and I was the one with the problem. Thanks Matt. You will be missed. You taught me a wonderful life lesson!!! Bill Chopp

I remember growing up on McKenzie Place right next door to Matt's Grandma Josephine. We use to play together when we were kids and would always be outside playing catch with the football or riding bikes on the street or going over to the school to play on the playground. You were a great friend Matt. You will be missed dearly but never forgotten. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I got to know Matt while doing some designs for his "Faith Ink" clothing line. I've said many times that he's the nicest guy I ever met, but he was much more than that. My own faith in God had all but left me after my bout with cancer. The casual conversations we had, along with his everyday spirituality helped restore my faith and gave me strength and hope. I will miss him dearly.
~ Joe Slack - June 30, 2018
Matt cappotelli is a great man i remember one time at an smackdown live event in indiana after he won tough enough. And had few matches on tv. He was in the stands for smackdown red button shirt. Just enjoying smackdown with friends beside him. I was not able to really pay close attention to the show because all the time i would be wondering if that was matt or not. So after smackdown was over and before he was leaving i went up to him and asked him are you matt cappotelli he said yes i am. He didnt want the fans toreconize him because of him with friends and i understood that. I then asked if i could have a picture. He wass kind and said sure. It made my night getting my picture with him. I know he will be in the hall of fame with all the wrestlers he has idolize too someday... Rip matt you are hope to see you again.... Truely a gift from god... And to his family i am truely sorry....
~ Clint Cragen - June 30, 2018
When I saw Matt on Tough Enough 3, I knew there was something very special about him. No matter what was thrown at him, he never gave up. In the past few years, I was able to get to know Matt and his beautiful wife, Lindsay. I’ve never seen a love like theirs. Matt is the true definition of Warrior. And his fight inspired me in so many ways... To never give up... To not sweat the small stuff... To live a healthier lifestyle... I could go on and on. Matt will always hold a very special place in my heart. Lindsay has handled herself with such dignity and grace. She makes me want to be a better person. I will always be here for her. Thank you, Matt, for being such a beautiful soul, who brought so much joy to so many. My heart goes out to Matt’s family, friends and anyone affected by this loss. I’m going to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. My sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to you all.

My beautiful wife Tami died on June 1st, 2015 to this insidious disease. I offer my condolences and heartfelt sympathy. 8 months after I lost my wife, I met a woman in Ft. Pierce, Florida thru our glioblastoma FB page. She lost her husband Bill to the same disease on the day of my wife's funeral. Bill played football for the Florida Gators. Susan and I have been in a relationship ever since and give our time and efforts to fighting brain cancer. I know that Matt's family will live on with his presence strongly in their hearts as Tami and Bill live in the hearts of Susan and I.... Peace to Matt's wife and family.... Mark Conroy Roswell, Ga.

He was a great youth leader at New Vision Church. Many of the teens are grown now and many have families and are serving the Lord. Matt was a great role model for everyone he came in contact with because of his Love for Christ. Lindsey is a very strong woman and is going to need a show of Love for Comfort.
