Thomas Roy McMahan
1936 - 2018

Thomas R. McMahan, 81, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on April 7, 2018.

He was born on May 4, 1936 in Paris, Kentucky. Tom graduated from Paris High School where he played a great game of basketball. Tom went to U of K as a walkon turning down scholarships at Xavier and Eastern KY Universities with hopes to catch the eye of Coach Adolf Rupp.

Tom married his high school sweetheart, Doris Robertson in 1957 and that same year he joined the U.S. Airforce and was sent to Lawry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. For seven years Tom was an instructor of special weapons. After leaving the Air Force he worked for Philco Corp. in Waukegan, IL. It was at that time, Tom applied for a job with Allstate Ins. launching a successful career lasting 33 years.

Tom will be remembered for is infectious laughter filling the room and echoing through the neighborhood when he was grilling on his deck. Tom loved sports and was an avid tennis player winning the club doubles championship at LTC several years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years Darcy, daughter Stacy Webb (Kevin), son Todd (Diane) and grandchildren Sam Webb, Olivia McMahan, Ryan McMahan, great-granddaugher Ava Collins and brother Bill McMahan.

He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. Be at peace and be loving and kind to all around you.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 pm Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville 40243).
