In Memory Of
Christopher "Daryl" Sullivan
1974 - 2016

Christopher "Daryl" Sullivan, also known as Rich Penniless, born Jan 19, 1974, passed on October 15, 2016. He is survived by wife, Tiffany Embry; daughter, Laine Marie Sullivan; parents, Peggy & Jim Sullivan; and sister, Susan Sullivan.

Daryl was such an adventurous little boy always looking for frogs, snakes and anything that crawled. He would spend hours looking through his Official Field Guide of Reptiles. He kept turtles in the house and even built a pond outside for a one. He still loved turtles, as he left behind two he had captured in Wathen Pond.

Daryl lived life at full-throttle. When he was on a mission, he was unstoppable. His true passion was music and his creations have influenced and inspired many. His musical career runs decades deep, being in the bands Ultra, Puppy Truk, Dead City Rejects, Five Finger Discount, Cherub Scourge, Pink Vultures and most recently, Graveyard Smile. He pumped up crowds with his in-your-face performance, tight riffs and lyrics that came from his soul and hit home.

But this wasn't his only talent. His love for his friends was everlasting. Even if one had lost touch with him, he would still greet you with open arms like no time had passed. Before you knew it, everyone was laughing. Daryl was as real as they come and always there to help. He would give you his last dollar. He was always ready to lend an ear and offer real feedback without judgement, often with a joke to make hard information easier to hear. Although he had his own demons, he would use his experiences to help others in any way he could. His empathy was second nature.

The love he had for his daughter and wife was unfathomable. When he was with Laine, he was her twin — laughing at the same inside jokes and singing ridiculously adorable songs they would create together about daily things. They had a crime-fighting team called the Aqua Force, rescuing bugs and frogs in trouble and even had a logo for their costumes. He was her Fuzzle Freak.

Daryl proposed to Tiffany in her beat-up old 1994 Ford Ranger on a summer evening in 2013. He had an elaborate proposal planned but was too impatient to wait. They were best friends, "two of a kind,” laughing until they cried and their stomachs hurt. His love will never be matched. It was unconditional, passionate and rare.

No one who ever met Daryl left without being affected by him. His infectious laugh, creativity, goofy sense of humor and enormous heart will forever be a part of everyone who was lucky enough to have known him.

"There's a difference, baby, between complacency and happiness. And if you think your demons can't catch you, it's just because they haven't yet."

A memorial service will be announced in the near future as the family needs this time to grieve.
