Catherine Marie (Buckner) Taylor Mitchell, 87, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on July 18, 2016 in New Albany, Indiana. Catherine was a dedicated member of Howards Chapel Baptist Church. She was a faithful usher board member, a missionary, and a former member of Eastern Star. Catherine loved playing Bingo and Spades with her cousins, Clara and Ellen Smith, and best friends, Winnie Mickens and Lucille Moore.

Catherine was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Emma and James Yates; father, Claude Buckner; a loving husband, Robert R. Mitchell, Sr.; two daughters, Dionne Monroe and Kathy Zenobia Mitchell Lee; a grandson, Zari Walker; and her only brother, Marion L. Taylor.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Robert R. Mitchell, Jr. (Maria); daughter, Hope Mitchell (former husband, Keith Mitchell, Sr.); stepdaughter, Barbara Ann Washington; special nephew, Terry Knight; grandchildren, Lakayla, Keith, Jr., Marissa (fiance, William), Rollin and Roland Mitchell, Dacia Wright (Mizell), Michael Monroe, Nastassia Mitchell, Marliesta Lee, Bobbie Lee Simpson (Gary), Kathleen and Theresa Mitchell, and Carla McPheeters; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Zida Hudson and Angela Taylor.

Her Visitation will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Howards Chapel Baptist Church (1715 East Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:30 p.m. followed by burial at Westhaven Cemetery in New Albany.
