Charles Leland Kiefer, Sr., 72, of Borden, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. He was a school bus driver for 24 years for the New Albany/Floyd County School Corporation. Charlie was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Local 110, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Southern Indiana Radio Control Modelers. He served as a machine gunner in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 42 in Floyds Knobs. Charlie was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking and riding motorcycles.

He was born on December 4, 1943, in Borden, Indiana, to the late Jack and Blanche (Clabo) Kiefer. Charlie is survived by his wife, Jeannie (Coffman) Kiefer; children, Kimberly Barbour (Scott) and Charles “Chuck” Kiefer, Jr. (Joanne); step-children, Amy Bedan-Poff (Rob) and Joe Bedan (Karri); and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Sunday after 12 noon. His Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Christian Church Cemetery in Borden.
