Nelma T. Shipp, 76, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

She was born on August 20, 1946 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Virginia (Gastineau) Tapp. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Becky Tapp.

Nelma retired from Jefferson County Public Schools after 40 years of service; she was a beloved school secretary at Greenwood Elementary for most of her career.

Nelma is survived by her loving Husband of 26 years, James Harvey Shipp, Sr. (Ret. U.S. Navy E-8 BMCS), daughters, Kim (Joe) Englert and Garen (Jeff) Stout, grandchildren, David (Sarah) Englert, Brooke (Ben) Washburn, Micaela (Taylor) Pulliam, Jared (Jessica) Stout, Alec (Jordan) Stout and Luke (Lila) Stout, 10 great grandchildren, and her siblings, Sue (Dwight) Lile, Ken (Deborah) Tapp and Penny (Doug) Lucas.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest privately at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.

The family requests that contributions in Nelma ’s memory be made to Cedar Lake Lodge.
