In Memory Of
Garry Wayne "Gus" McGuffin
1956 - 2022

Garry Wayne McGuffin (Gus), 66, of Louisville, KY passed away on August 02, 2022, after battling a lengthy illness. Gus retired from the University of Louisville after 30 years. After retirement he enjoyed watching his grandson, even working at his elementary school, and the many rides to school from elementary through high school. He loved all the time he spent with him fishing, golfing, eating breakfast at DQ and recently Devyn’s and Chris’s car (truck) adventures. Gus cherished his family and spending time with them, especially after the loss of his daughter Kellie.

He also enjoyed golfing with his many friends, the occasional casino trips, and lunches with his buddy Ricky Sanders.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kellie McGuffin; father, Elbert McGuffin; brothers, James McGuffin and Ralph McGuffin; nephews, Jerry Meadows Jr, Ralph McGuffin Jr, and Greg McGuffin and sister-in-law, Sharon Belcher.

Gus leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 39 years, Kay McGuffin; mother, Dorothy Phelps; grandson, Devyn Winchester; son-in-law, Chris Winchester; sister, Vivian Meadows (Jerry); sister-in-law, Joann McGuffin; niece, Leslie Woosley and many family members including in-laws, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and his loyal pups, Toebe and Mack.

The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the staff at Signature South for the amazing care Gus received while there. From the office staff to the nurses and the CNA angels; Bless you all. I would also like to acknowledge Hosparus for their care and support.

Kay would also like to thank all the well wishes and visits Gus received while at the nursing facility. My sisters and all of my family and friends have meant everything to me the last few years.

Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 9am-1pm with a celebration of Gus's life beginning at 1pm.

Gus will be laid to rest at Louisville Memorial Gardens - West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
