Roy Herbert Simons, Sr., 60, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was a talented artist with a great sense of humor and who enjoyed woodworking, as well as building things with his own hands. Roy liked playing video games, flying drones, cooking, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He was fond of his dogs, Stinky and Rocky, loved his family deeply, and served as an excellent role model for his grandchildren.

He was born on October 22, 1961, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Ralph Simons, Sr., and the late Irma (Bogard) Simons. In addition to his father, Roy is survived by his wife of over 37 years, Lesa (Zimmerman) Simons; children, Savahanna Reed (Bryan), Roy Simons, Jr. (Shay), and David Simons (Marche); brothers, Richard Simons and Ralph Simons, Jr. (Glenda); and grandchildren, Autumn, Tommy, and Nathan Nelson, Bryan Reed, Jr., and Katelynn, Leona, and Layla Simons.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 11:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Central Barren Cemetery in Palmyra.
