Princess U. Bates, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022. She was born on February 23, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Elaine White.

Princess was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend. She graduated high school from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and went on to receive her degree in nursing at the age of nineteen. She lived in Detroit, Michigan from 1979 to 1999. During that time she was employed and retired from The Wellness Plan where she worked as a nurse. In 1999 she began her second career at Family Health Center (Portland) and she continued her employment at Family Health Center (Iroquois) where she retired at the age of eighty one. She was a dedicated volunteer and lottery player. Princess will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor and pleasure of knowing her.


Princess is survived by her loving family, Children, Hermania Elaine Bates, Gerald Terry (Nikichia) Collins, Sr., and Dawn Marie Bates; Grandchildren, Tiffany Marie (Wanda) Bates, Marvin Gerald Bates, Shonda Marie (Dominique Price) Adonis, Kierre Chanel (Harold) Worsham, Gerald Terry Collins, Jr., and Nicholas Anthony Collins; Great-Grandchildren, Tray Lassell Bates, Derrius Miles Adonis, Damarjanae Mayes, Nyla Madisyn Adonis, Laia Marie Moore, Kayden Wesley Worsham, Hailey Chanel Worsham, and Brooklynn Marie Price, as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.

The family requests that contributions in Princess’s memory be made to St. Jude or the American Diabetes Association.
