Florine Holmes Dickerson, 74, of Louisville, Kentucky peacefully transitioned from this life on May 12, 2022. She was born July 21, 1947, in Durant, Mississippi to the late MaeWeather Holmes and Florence Holmes Alexander Washington. Florine was the eldest of her ten (10) siblings. At a very early age, Florine confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Saint Cyril in Chicago, Illinois.

Florine graduated from Thornton Township High School and attended business college in Illinois. She went on to a rewarding three decade career in the media industry working for Peterson Publishing and Time Magazine. After her first retirement, she dedicated 10 years to AIG Insurance before pursuing her passion for children by opening up her own in-house day care center called Hugs and Kisses.

In addition to her parents, Florine was preceded in death by her mother in law Beatrice Robinson, and two sisters: Lenore “Niecy” and Lutricia “Marie” Washington.

She is survived by her loving husband, Orvelle Armis Dickerson; two children: Karla Jarvis (Jonathan) and David Dickerson; grandchildren Justus Jarvis, Kamri Jarvis, and Kyla Jarvis; great grandson, Tristian Armis Jarvis; Siblings, Charlie Mixon, Verlin Mohmmad, Dorothy Harris (James), Sharon Cohn (Brian), Renae Holmes, Gola Busby (Gerald), Toni Dennis, and Derrick Holmes; Special cousin, Charles Percy Alexander (Janis), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with additional visitation hours on Friday, May 20, 2022 at First Pewee Valley Baptist Church (7104 Old Floydsburg Rd, Pewee Valley, KY 40056) from 10:00AM – 11:00AM, with service to follow beginning at 11:00AM.
