Janiv Marie Hayton Ratliff passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2022 with her family by her side.

A native of Pikeville, KY, she was born to George and Annie Thacker Hayton on March 1, 1925.

She was a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church in Valley Station,KY.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Rush Ratliff, her parents, her sister Edyth Williams Ratliff, her brother Earl Hayton, her son Jerry Dale Ratliff and son-in-law, Buddy Padgett.

She is survived by her sons; Harold (Glenda), Gregory (Sharon), and Randall (Tonny) Ratliff, her daughter; Jenny Lee Padgett , daughter in law; Gail Ratliff Maupin, niece; Gay Bruner.
Grandchildren; Robbi (Laura) Ratliff, Shannon (Kris) Johnson, Missy (David) Neal, Tabitha (Cat) May, Tiffany Bode, Tyler Ratliff, Missy Padgett, Tracy Klein, Tina (Wally) Wallingford, Carrie (Steve) Watts, Casey (Rachel) Kuffner, James (Ginny) and David Terry. Great grandchildren: Gavyn, Parker, Liam, Carmen, Emmalee, Nelson, Maggie, Zack, Chas, Shelby, Beckham, Lila, Hugh, Celia, and many other great nieces and nephews.

Prior to marriage during WWII she was a “ROSIE” working as a welder building Liberty ships in Baltimore MD. She was a devoted wife and stay at home mother for many years. She was employed at the Russell Stover’s candy store on 4th street. She obtained her GED, driver’s license, and LPN license after her husband’s early death. She worked at Methodist & Suburban hospital’s and cared for many patients as a private duty nurse until her retirement in her 80’s.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with additional visitation hours on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM 2022, with service to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will take place at Bethany Cemetery (10917 Dixie Hwy, Valley Station, KY 40272).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Jan to your favorite charity.
