In Memory Of
Edwin Bruce Harrison
1952 - 2021
He was born on August 31, 1952, in Mariemont, Ohio to the late Thomas Harrison and Bettye (Jones) Wilson. He is also preceded in death by his sister Judy Oehler, stepfather George Wilson and grandparents Clyde and Bernie Jones and Arthur and Flossie Harrison.
Bruce was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and the University of Kentucky Dental Technology program, an industry he spent many years working in. He was a wonderful human being, kind, a gentle, considerate, and sweet man, funny, extremely talented, and generous to those less fortunate than himself. He was a dedicated Christian and read the bible regularly his entire adult life. Bruce enjoyed cruising around in his car, coffee, and watching Fox News. He was also an accomplished and talented musician, song writer, and singer. He played the guitar, organ, drums, harmonica, and flute … just to name a few. He was in many successful bands starting with the The Burkshire, who won Battle of the Band contests at Whispering Hills Country Club in 1968 and the Balcony Club at the Kentucky State Fair in 1967. He was also a member of The Brothers Pride, who had numerous recordings, one of which, “Everyday” reached the top 25 in the Louisville market, and finally the group Harrison. Bruce loved those close to him but was always ready to meet his savior Jesus Christ. It gives the family comfort that Bruce is with his mom, who he loved dearly and took care of for many years, and his sister Judy. Doodlebug, which he was called by his mom, will be terribly missed.
Bruce is survived by his brother, Steve Harrison (Connie), nieces Tina Plahuta (Greg), Kelly Harrison, Kristen Mason (Tate), nephews Eddie O'Riley (Terrie), Bobby O'Riley, Jamie Hodge (Billie), brother-in-law Walter Oehler, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243). Bruce will be interred at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family asks that you reach out and help someone less fortunate than yourself, whoever or wherever that might be. Bruce would have wanted that.
