April Maye Wood, 30, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from natural causes. April was a loving mom that put her kids needs before her own. She had a free spirit with a personality that was bigger than life that was taken to soon. She was a talented writer, loved music, and never met a stranger. She stood her ground and fought for what she believed in. April will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on August 12, 1990 in Louisville, Kentucky to David Sexton and Mary Bailey. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Rachel Bailey.

April is survived by her loving family, father, David (Denise) Sexton and mom, Lesa Locke; daughter, Ava Lilyanna Wood and son, Xaiver S. Brown; siblings, Mark Clemente, Heather Neal, Hollie (Lindsey) Burton, Lindsey (Perry) Smith, and Jordan Locke; grandmother, Rita "GoGo" Gentry and grandmother, JoAnn Sexton; bonus dad, Bill Locke. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends to cherish her fun loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 am on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with cremation to follow.

The family requests that contributions in April’s memory be made to American Heart Association.
