Doris Jane Shaffer, 90, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021. Doris owned and operated Shaffer Foods with her husband for many years. She retired from JC Penney in Louisville after many years of employment. Doris loved to travel and enjoyed watching ice-skating. She was a proud breast cancer survivor for over 40 years. Doris made family a priority. She was a one-of-a-kind, loving and caring nurturer and known by all as Nana. She cared for everyone and will be dearly missed by all.

She was born on June 18, 1930, in Middleburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Albert and Nellie Bowman Kaufmann. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Shaffer; and son, Barry F. Shaffer.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Robert) Sands; son, Randy (Carolyn) Shaffer; daughter, Jody Shaffer; grandchildren, Barry Shaffer, Randy (Melissa) Shaffer, Tiffany (Nicholas) Morris and Taylor Sands; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). She will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Montoursville Cemetery in Montoursville, Pennsylvania.
