N. Michael Morgan
1950 - 2021

N. Michael Morgan, 70, of Louisville, KY passed away on February 21, 2021.

He wore many hats, grandfather, father, son, friend, salesman, AA sponsor, caregiver to his late parents, constant funny guy and jokester, but he was a true romantic at heart.

N. Michael Morgan was equal amounts charisma and crazy.

He was born on October 21, 1950 in rural Wallins Creek, KY but raised in Louisville, Mike had small town morals and big city dreams. He graduated from Louisville Male High School-Class of ’68. Go Bulldogs! He married his high school sweetheart, and set out to make it big. From Assistant VP at Liberty National Bank to custodian at his home church, Mike has done it all. He could sell you a car, even if you didn’t need one (Don Corlett Motors, Saturn of Louisville), watch your children (Grandmother’s House, 5 C’s Daycare), finance your home (Lincoln Finance), get you insured (Shelter Insurance) or sell you a Bible (Christian General Store). He could get you out of a gym membership you were too young to join, or get you into a Clinton Rally in ’96 just by acting like he belonged. He was a longtime member of Highlands Evangelical Church and Highlands Vineyard Church. He loved imitating Chevy Chase, Heath candy bars, white chocolate, salt and vinegar chips, unsweet tea, and giving $2 bills to his grandchildren-they are 2x as special, you know.

Mike has joined his parents, Norman and Ruby Morgan, and his big brother Robert (Bob) L. Morgan, in heaven and the celebration has begun. Chi Chi’s chips and salsa for everyone.

He was by no means perfect, but he tried. When he entered a room with his dad jokes and dark sense of humor everyone felt at ease. He enjoyed being a Kentucky Colonel, going on spontaneous trips, having lunch with his brothers, attending church, working the voting booth, helping with the census, debating politics (to get people riled up), shopping at Good Will, buying all the latest gadgets, and spending time with those he loved.

He is survived by his children, Meredith Mastin (Robert) of Richmond and Chris Morgan (Faith) of Shelbyville, and his grandchildren: Morgan, Mason, Matthew, Madalee, Kerryn, Gwyneth, Grisham, Jhadam, and Vera. Everyone will miss his hugs and corny nature immensely. Mike is also survived by brothers, Damon Morgan and Jim Morgan (Wanda), both of Louisville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike survived being hit by a car as a child, multiple unlawful situations, a head on collision in the early 90’s and was a recovering alcoholic, but none of these events defined him.

His life was as beautiful as it was unbelievable, and his death was the same. Both were organized, but messy. He passed away from a heart attack at his home on Sunday, February 21. He will forever remain larger than life, and his greatest legacy and loves are his nine grandchildren who call him papaw.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
