James E. Rice, 86, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021. James enjoyed fishing and went all over the State and Country. He proudly served in United States Army. James worked for CSX Railroad for over 20 years before his retirement in 1989.

He was born on October 20, 1934 in Hyden, Kentucky to Ance & Nora (Woods) Rice. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Fredia Rice, Parents, and Brother, Forrest Rice.

James is survived by his Daughter, Regina (Wayne) Carrier, Son, Jim (Dana) Rice, Grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlyn and Tristan, Great-Grandchildren, Kendall and William, Sisters, Wilma Couch of Rineyville, and Lonnie Turner of Oxford, GA, and Sister-In-Law, Betsy Rice of Cecil, OH. James also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial and Military Honors to follow in Bethany Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in James’s memory be made to Wounded Warriors.
