He was born on October 9, 1941 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Eldridge and Ethel (Crabtree) Carpenter. He is also preceded in death by his brothers; Bud, Gordon, Carl, Clifford Smith and Charles Smith, sisters Frieda and Barbara Wehunt.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Billie J. Carpenter, sons, Dale Carpenter (Kris Ooms), Greg Carpenter, Phil Carpenter, grandchildren, Zachary Carpenter, Dayne Carpenter, Caitlin Carpenter and Carlee Carpenter. He is also survived by sisters Betty Mitchell and Sue Bibby.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 pm at The Chapel in the Woods (1407 Moser Road Louisville, KY 40299).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions in Bill’s memory be made to Hospice of Louisville.
