1948 - 2021

Patty (Ettel) Blanckaert, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was a 1966 graduate of Clarksville High School and a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Patty retired from BellSouth after 30 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, Patty worked as a teacher's assistant at Holy Family Catholic School and also began volunteering for Hosparus, Maryhurst, and KODA.

She was born on June 4, 1948, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Edward Ettel, Jr., and Estelle (Wilson) Ettel Reece. Patty is survived by her husband, August Blanckaert, Jr.; children, Josh Haller (Tara) and Sarah Martin (Shawn); brother, Gary Ettel; grandchildren, Dalton, Kailey, Ashleigh, Avery, and Aurora; special family friends, John and Robyn Haller, Denny and Paula Lish, David and Barbara Kennedy, Candice and Lorna Robinson, and Amy Wagner; and her beloved dog, Daisy.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany) with cremation to follow according to Patty's wishes. She will be laid to rest privately at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville.

Contributions in Patty's memory may be made to Hosparus - the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) or to Maryhurst (1015 Dorsey Lane, Louisville, KY 40223).
