Diane Elizabeth Foster, Libertyville, Il, born June 15th 1942 passed November 17th 2020 at her home in Louisville, KY. She was 78 years old. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Teacher but most importantly she was centered in her faith, her relationship with Christ, and lived according to the belief that every soul was valuable. She was a Special Education teacher at Jefferson County Public Schools and retired from the Kentucky School for the Blind. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Jean Braun and her first husband, Carl Curtis.
Diane is survived by her spouse, James Sims; her children, Dawn (Mark) Curtis-Thames, Carol Curtis, Julie (Keith) Brunson, and Stephanie (Thomas) Manley; by her grandchildren, Jonathan Thames, Elizabeth (Sam) Jantz, Jesse (Vivianna) Brunson, Anna Brunson, Blake Manley, Brooke Manley, and Bristin Manley; and by her siblings, Nancy (John) Bonefas, David (Bobbie) Braun, Sally (Arnie) Rakestraw; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will have a private funeral service and online memorial. Donations in her honor should be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, National Urban League, NAACP, or the Kentucky School for the Blind.
