Bernard Almer "Steve" Stevenson, 94 of Louisville, KY, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020

He was born on February 3, 1926 to Almer and Agnes Stevenson. He was the oldest of 7 children. Steve was preceded in death by his former wife Betty, sisters, Kate, Gladys and Carolyn; and brother Clarence (Little Steve) and grandson Julian.

He is survived by his children, Douglas (Deborah), Jeff (Jean) and Kimberly French (Bill), 6 grandchildren Jody, Leah, Tyler, Cooper, Annabelle and Angelina, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters Vickie Sampson and Judy Glass.

Steve was born in Louisville, specifically Camp Taylor. At 17, Steve joined the Navy to serve in World War II, where he was stationed on a ship that delivered soldiers to the beaches in the South Pacific. He married Betty Jean Owsley and together they owned Interstate Venetian Blinds and Tireland in Mount Washington. They built a home in Fern Creek , where their children could enjoy the quiet of nature.

Steve kept his sense of independence, living on his own until he was 92. Although a final fall sent him into his ultimate decline, his mind remained sharp and clear, along with his sense of humor, to the very end. Steve loved music, good food and was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky, and could always been seen wearing the colors of Big Blue.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
