Joan (Wimsatt) Foster, 69, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. She was a member of Covenant Church of Christ and the VFW Post 1693 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was born on October 12, 1950, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Joseph and Clara Helen (Ray) Wimsatt. Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Dennis “Skip” Foster; and siblings, Janet Thomas, Joseph "Bob" Wimsatt, Linda Frances Wimsatt, Donna LaHue, Steve Wimsatt, Esther Fredericks, and Jean Tevis.

Joan is survived by her sons, Troy Foster (Shannon) and B.J. Foster; siblings, Sheila Schmidt, Rita Tooley, Maureen Pierce, Mike Wimsatt, John Wimsatt, Bill Wimsatt, and Mary Paul; grandchildren, Nicholas, Craig, and Paisley Foster, Ashley Helbig (David), Ken Goines (Bethany), and Patrick Goines (Kayla); and great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Scarlet, Landon, Brooklyn, Ava, and Carson.

Cremation was chosen following Joan’s wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. Her memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at a later date at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
