LeMerle Charles "Merle" Banet
1940 - 2019

LeMerle Charles "Merle" Banet, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. He was an employee at Hoosier Panel and retired from the Floyd County Road Department. Merle was a 1958 graduate of Providence High School and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany.

He was born on May 7, 1940, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Wilford and Mary (Renn) Banet. Merle was also preceded in death by his siblings, Wilfred "Tommy" Banet, Clarence "Joe" Banet, Benny "Dutch" Banet, Martha Moore, and Maurice Banet; and grandson, Zachary Banet.

Merle is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Faye (Gibson) Banet; children, Rick Banet, Kelly Condra (Bryan), Doug Banet (Emily), and Kim Nunley (Gary); sisters, Aileen Banet and Norma Andres; brother, Larry Banet (Donna); grandchildren, Nicole Kirkman (Josh), Tristen Samuels (Kyle), Samantha Condra, Corey Banet, Erin Banet, Nathan Banet, Alaina Banet, Ashley Nunley, Abby Nunley, and Audrey Nunley; and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Eli, Reid, and Luke.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church (129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany) with burial to follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
