Michael Grenville Tanner, 67, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. His favorite hobby was painting toy soldiers for the reenactment of historical wars. Mike enjoyed gardening with his gnomes, playing the guitar, and partaking in craft beers and various spirits. He also received the honor of being named a Kentucky Colonel.

He was born on November 17, 1951, in Hampshire, England, to the late Grenville and Maud (Roberts) Tanner. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Tanner; children, Bryony Tanner and Nate Tanner (Melissa); sisters, Jan Shaw (Malcolm) and Sally Reed; stepchildren, Kerry Webster, Travis Webster, and Jason Harrington; grandchildren, Aiden, Austen, Ashton, Avery, Vincent, Caylin, Ashley, Logan, and Noellyn.

Cremation was chosen following Mike's wishes, and a reception of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Contributions in Mike’s memory be made to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center (529 S. Jackson Street, Louisville, KY 40202).
