Billy D. Thompson, 83, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019. Billy grew up in Macon, Illinois where he graduated from Macon High School in 1955. He retired from Kyle Railroad after more than 30 years of service. Billy was a faithful believer who served as a minister in the Baptist church for nearly 50 years. He was loved by his family and a wealth of friends he accumulated in a lifetime of service and gratitude.

He was born on April 9, 1936 in Dalton City, Illinois to the late Frank and Goldie (Daniels) Thompson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant son, Billy Dean Thompson, Jr.; and his brothers, Gene Thompson and Jerry Thompson.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Jean Thompson; children, Judy Lofland, Lonny (Laurie) Thompson, Beverly (John) Blackburn, Trina (Chris) Loney and Ryan (Kris) Thompson; brother, Jesse (Kate) Thompson; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
