Kenneth Leon "Bill" Smith, 93, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. He was a United States Navy veteran that bravely served his nation during WWII and the Korean War. Kenneth was a member of VFW Post 1693, American Legion Post 28, and St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of dedicated employment.
He was born on August 29, 1925, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William and Mary Lillian (Welch) Smith. Kenneth was also preceded in death by his sister, Eillen Cheatham.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of over 28 years, Brenda (Freeman) Smith; children, Beverly Thompson (John), Linda Smith, Kenny Smith, Joyce Fannin (Bill), and Rosalyn Gramlin (Kevin); mother-in-law, Rosalynn Weinbrenner; three grandchildren; and niece, Darlene Roberts (Robert).
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a prayer service taking place at 5:30 p.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church (415 E. 8th Street, New Albany) with burial and military honors to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
