Barbara Ann Smith, 80, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019. She started her final journey surrounded by family and her faithful dog, Sadi, in the comfort of her home. Barbara was born on July 29, 1938, in Taylorville, Illinois. She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1957.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 43 years, Howard "Smitty" Smith, married on April 4, 1976; daughters, Sherry Lynn Wright of Tampa, Florida, and Mary Elizabeth Lambert (Aaron) of New Albany, Indiana; stepdaughters, Myra Ann Smith of Newport News, Virginia, and Kathleen Regina Spratley (John) of Williamsburg, Virginia; stepsons, Howard Avery Smith (Helene) of Newport News, Virginia, and Eric Patrick Smith (Donnie) of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Caroline Thompson of Taylorville, Illinois; brother, Larry Walker (Wanda) of Stuart, Florida; grandchildren, Brian Garver, Bruce Garver, Lora Anderson, Allie Day, Jesse Beaulieu, Joshua Templin, Melissa White, Brandon White, Sarah Lally, and Janie Weeks; and life-long friend, Nancy Erickson (Dennis); as well as several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Alan Wright; and grandson, LeeDon Beaulieu.

Barbara was a caring person and was the happiest while doing for others. She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at L'Orientale Beauty Salon in Clarksville. Barbara served as a United Methodist Youth Leader and in Older Adult ministries at Jacobs Chapel UMC and Silver Street UMC. She was a preschool teacher at Trinity UMC and Silver Street UMC and a lunchroom monitor at Silver Street Elementary School where she was affectionately called "Miss Barbara."

She will be sadly missed by her family, caregiver of several years, Carol Roll, friends, neighbors, and those she served.

A reception of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Wesley Chapel UMC (2100 U.S. 150, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119) with her memorial service taking place at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Barbara's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association (6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205), Hosparus of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150), or to Peggy's Place (1730 Audubon Drive, New Albany, IN 47150).
