In Memory Of
Patricia Tierney Gardner
1956 - 2019

Patricia T.(Tierney) Gardner passed away peacefully on 3-22-2019 surrounded by loved ones after a decades long battle with kidney disease, and other complicating medical problems. She was a successful liver transplantee of fifteen years prior to developing kidney disease.

She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 29, 1956 to Wm. L. Gardner, Sr. and Shirley Vetter Gardner. She attended grade school at Christ the King in the west end of Louisville, Ky., and later attended Loretto High School for one year, Lafayette High School in Lexington, Ky., and finished at Fern Creek High School. Patricia completed a BA in Written Communication at Eastern Michigan University in 1986. She enjoyed a flourishing professional career as a technical writer, and ultimately ran her own small technical writing business until illness intervened.

Patricia enjoyed travel, gardening, reading, and listening to music, both live and recorded. She had a zest and appetite for life that was contagious. She was a gracious and positive person whose optimistic attitude toward living with her illnesses was inspiring. She acted as a fine self-advocate in managing these same illnesses. She was a bright light in this world, and she will be missed.

Patricia was preceded in death by her two parents, Wm. L. Gardner, Sr. and Shirley Vetter Gardner. She is survived by her two beloved children, Kasey (Coby) and Dylan (Amy) Arrington from a previous marriage; and her eight siblings, Linda Gardner Farmer (Frank), Bill Gardner (Beverly), Ken Gardner (Marielena), Tim Gardner (Frankie), Rob Gardner (Barbara), John Gardner (Beth Powell), Jim Gardner and Tom Gardner (Marti); and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, spread across the country. She enjoyed these relationships with family and friends up to the day of her passing.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Friday, March 29, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243 (in Middletown). Mass of Celebration will be 10 am Saturday, March 30th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1960 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY. 40205. A celebration of life will follow.

Any memorial contributions may be made in her honor with your favorite charitable foundations of choice. Patricia favored donations in the areas of mental health, and liver and kidney disease.
