Charles “Lucien” Dean, 76, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was the charter President of the Greenville Optimist Club, as well as the leader and organizer of the Chateaus Band and the New Chateaus Band. Lucien was also the worship and song leader at Greenville Christian Church and Georgetown Community Church.

He was born on August 10, 1942, in Anderson County, Kentucky, to the late Estel and Blanche (Sutherland) Dean. Lucien was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bill and Jimmy Dean.

Lucien is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Gibson) Dean; children, Lynn Smith (Kent) and Stacie Lockhart (Jeff); siblings, Bobby Dean (Marilyn) and Elizabeth Dean; grandchildren, Tiffany Naville (Daniel), Chana Andres (Ryan), Audrie Delbridge (Caleb), and Mitchell Lockhart; and great-grandchildren, Evie, Faith, Aubrey, Hazel, and Gracelyn Naville, and Autumn and Peyton Andres.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Greenville Cemetery.
