George Allen Romans Sr., 82, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Sellersburg, Indiana, where he also served on the board. He enjoyed classic cars, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family. He retired from Ford Motor Company in May of 1985 after 30 years of service.

George was born on October 19, 1935 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to the late Arthur G. & Viola (Snelling) Romans. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth (May) Romans; son, Gregory Lee Romans; siblings, Ann, Carrie, Calvin and Virginia “Tootsie”; and son-in-law, James Axsom.

He is survived by his children, Deborah “Deb” Axsom, Sherry Wright (Dale), Colleen Brendle (John), George A. “Bub” Romans, Jr. (Kim Mills), and Gary Romans (Melinda); sister, Marie Nifong; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with Additional Visitation on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Full Gospel Tabernacle (714 East Utica Street, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172). Burial take place at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
