In Memory Of
Bettie Ann Henderson
1948 - 2018

Bettie Ann (McCauley) Henderson, 70, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Born on February 2, 1948, in New Albany, IN. Bettie Henderson was an earthly angel to EVERYONE. From being a listening ear to any and every one, to giving all of herself and her love to not only her own family, but to the ones who became family, to being the Chairman of Walk America, where she planned and executed large fundraising events for premature babies, and a member of the PJ Cosmetology College Advisory Board, where she enjoyed mentoring younger students. After retiring from JP Morgan Chase, where she gave 20 years of dedicated service, she attended PJ Cosmetology College, at the age of 68, and graduated with an almost perfect score. Bettie was an absolute inspiration to not only her children and grandchildren, but to family, friends, coworkers, and fellow students. Not only was she an inspiration, but she was a fighter. She battled with cancer for more than a year and fought that battle with every ounce of her being and until her very last minute. Bettie went to Florida every chance she could get and LOVED walking on the beach and collecting shells. She enjoyed rummaging, having family gatherings, and watching her grandchildren grow.

She had several roles including being a sister, aunt, friend, and nanny, but her absolute favorite role was being a mother to her three children, Tim Henderson, Kristian Grant (Jamie), and Adam Henderson (Mia). She loved her children more than she loved herself and everything she did in life was for her three children. She always put her children first and on September 13, 2018 she continued to put her children first as she took her last breathe surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Bettie’s friends and family will forever be broken by her absence but will hold every precious memory with her close to their hearts.

Survivors to this angel include her three children; siblings, Robert (Vicki) Wilson, Judy Vanover, Susan (Gary) Simpson, Debbie Shelton (Gregg Rank), and Paula Housden; grandchildren, Czer Gigger, Dallas Henderson, Madalynn Henderson, Mariah Grant, Jackson Henderson, Jaden Grant, Ryleigh Henderson, Jakobi and Tatum Grant and Landyn Henderson; several loving nieces and nephews; best friend of 20 years, Michele Ridenour; her third son, Michael McDougal, who became part of our family, and her two fur babies, Tessah and Bubba. Bettie is preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Marcum) Barber, father, Walter McCauley, brother, Jason Ashby, sister, Mildred McCauley Lamb, sister, Carolynn McCauley Grangier, and nephew, Michael Armstrong.

Her going home celebration will be on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 2pm until 6:30pm with the service beginning at 6:30pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN.)
