Gene Stratton Peters, Sr., BMC (Ret), 53, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy with a career that spanned 23 years. Gene was a family man and friend to many. Training and racing thoroughbreds was a big part of both Gene's and his family’s lives.

He was born on July 23, 1965, in New Albany to Georgia (Taylor) Roberts and the late Clarence Peters. Along with his mother, Gene is survived by his wife, Tonia (Caudill) Peters; children, Edward “Trey” Price III, Gene Peters, Jr., Micah Price, Jovan Matos, Trevor Locke, and Jazzmine Peters; siblings, Brent Taylor, Eric Roberts, Melinda Roberts, and James Hightower (Jennifer); and grandchildren, Georgia, Camryn, Vivian, and Taylor.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Private burial with military honors will take place at a later date at New Albany National Cemetery.

Contributions in Gene’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675).
