Charles Edward “Charlie” Wilbert, Jr., 78, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2018. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where he served on the PTO Board and was a member of the Prime Timers Club. Charlie was a past Grand Knight of the Knight of Columbus 1221 Cardinal Ritter Council and a Past President of the Optimist Club. He loved his golf and being a member of the Wooded View and New Albany Springs Golf Courses. Out of all his pastimes and hobbies of golfing and woodworking, his favorite was being with his family and cheering for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Charlie was born on March 31, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Charles E. Sr. and Mary Agnes (Shark).

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rose Marie “Rosie” (Wheatley) Wilbert; children, Charles A. “Tony” Wilbert (Maureen), Michael P. “Mike” Wilbert (Laura), William J. “Bill” Wilbert (Stacy), and Christina “Tina” Springer; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics of Indiana (6200 Technology Center Drive, Suite 105, Indianapolis, IN 46278).
