Shirley Elizabeth (Gunning) Basham, 70, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on December 5, 2017. She was a skilled hairdresser, homemaker, and member of Sojourn Church in New Albany. Shirley will be remembered for her love of baking, cooking, gardening, and being with her family..

Shirley was born on December 1, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late John and Evelyn (French) Gunning. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Gray.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Rene Leach (Lance); sisters, Mary Keeton (John), Dorthy Perryman, and Betty Siefert; grandchildren, Destiny and Connor Leach; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen in regards to Shirley’s wishes. Newcomer-Southern Indiana Chapel handled the arrangements.
