Lyons, Katie Nell (Brown, Lynch), 83, of Louisville, passed away peacefully at Eastern Star Home on Monday, December 4, 2017. She was born Katie Nell Brown on April 3, 1934 in Hardin, KY, the daughter of the late Wilford Brown and Ina Sledd. She spent most of her youth in Benton, KY before moving to Louisville in her teens.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Katie made a family home where she taught her children the power of prayer, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edward Lynch II, her second husband, James Francis Lyons, and her son Stephen Lyons.

Katie is survived by seven children - Charles Lynch III (Sally), Michael Lynch (Jackie), Daniel Lyons (Laurie), Anthony Lyons, Margaret Lyons, Cecilia Lyons, and Christopher Lyons (Beverly); as well as 17 grandchildren - Chip, Joe (Alison), Jason (Tonya), Hayley, Brittany, Jacob, Luke, Grace, Jordan, Anna, Erin, Christy, Joe, Dustin, Autumn, Stephen, and Michael; and seven great-grandchildren - Emma, Aiden, Adelyn, David, Nicky, Gauge, and Skylar; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Katie’s daughter, Margaret, for the loyal care and companionship she provided our mother throughout their lives.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 am, Saturday, December 9, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 639 S. Shelby Street, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm at Newcomer, Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive on Friday, December 8.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Martin of Tours Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern Star Home, or Hosparus Health of Louisville.
