1936 - 2017

Edwin "Poppi" Harry Friesendorf, Jr., age 81 of Louisville, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017 at Baptist Hospital East Palliative Care. Edwin was born on June 13, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edwin and Florence Friesendorf. He married Susie Friesendorf on June 22, 1968. Residing in Chicago, he served as CEO of Handschy Industries. They enjoyed many years in Chicago before retiring to Louisville, KY. in 1997. Edwin was passionate about mathematics, science and reading. He will always be remembered for his witty retorts, dry sense of humor and love of family. As a recreational golfer, he was a member of Inverness Country Club in Chicago, IL. as well as Lake Forest Country Club in Louisville.

Edwin is survived by his beloved wife, Susie Friesendorf; children, Debra Davis (Mark), Nanette Ingham (Bill), Edwin III (Karyn) and Courtney Peters (Dean); as well as ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be 4-6pm Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, with a celebration of Edwin's life at 6pm.

Memorials may be made to Hosparus and the American Cancer Society.
