William Jerry "Jer" Perkins, 67, passed away on December 7, 2016. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor's degree in Art and he also graduated from Roy's School of Hair Design. Jerry worked at and eventually owned MJ's Hair Salon in Prospect, Lyndon and Brownsboro center. He was an amazing and talented hair designer and travelled the world learning and teaching at hair shows and classes. After retiring from doing hair Jerry worked as a tour guide at the Kentucky Derby Museum, was a figure model, published poet and an antique dealer and from there he found his dream job at the Kentucky Center for the Arts as a floor manager. Jerry never meet a stranger, he was also there for others and found the good in everyone. Even in the ill health of the past few years Jerry never lost his zest for life and inspired us all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Margaret Perkins and by his first partner, Roland Dunn.

Jerry is survived by his partner of 27 years and husband of 3 years, Humphrey Marshall; brothers, Robert Mitchell ( Bettie Jean) Perkins and Stanley (Beverly) Perkins; sister, Marie (David Strickland) Perkins; aunts, Alma Jean Finney, Pauline Johnson, Jenetta Walker, Ida Singleton and Bertie Hamm; uncles Otis Ray Carter and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a special friend Ron Worman.

A gathering will be Monday, December 12, 2016, at Central Presbyterian Church, 318 W. Kentucky Street, Louisville, KY, from 10am-12pm with a celebration of Jerry's life beginning at 12pm.
