1941 - 2014

George W. Houtchens, Jr., 73, passed away on December 16, 2014. Skip was an Air Force veteran and was proud to have served his country. He retired from Stoker's Tenderex Farms after 50 plus years of sales and service for Broasted Chicken. He was an avid science fiction reader, gardner, Disney fan, Nascar fan and could always be found watching a University of Louisville game. Skip was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Ruby Houtchens, Sr.; sister, Linda Houtchens and brother, Samuel Houtchens.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Houtchens; children, Harold (Sheri) Wallace, daughter LeDonya (Scott) Derbacher and George W. (Cindy) Houtchens, III; grand-daughters, Ashley, Shelbie and Natalie; sisters, Lee Ann Smith and Donna Gates and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, December 19, 2014, from 5pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). A celebration of Skip's life will be Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home.
