Margaret (Smart) Lewis, 70, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014. She was a member at Edwardsville United Methodist Church. Margaret enjoyed many activities such as reading, gardening, traveling, as well as collecting antiques.

She was born on August 4, 1944 in Lebanon, Missouri to the late Cecil, Sr. and Veda (Barr) Smart. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil Smart, Jr. and John Smart.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Margaret “Sandy” Lewis-Townsend, Ronda “Suzie” Lewis; brothers, David Smart (Donna), Paul Smart (Charlotte); grandchildren, Cassandra Lewis-Townsend, Jasmine Lewis-Townsend, Morgan Cullins; great-grandchildren, Jourdon and Ciara.

A reception of family and friends will be from 2 to 3 PM Monday, December 22, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) with a Memorial Service taking place at 3 PM. Cremation was chosen according to Margaret’s wishes.

The family requests that contributions in Margaret’s memory may be made to the perpetual care fund for Hillhouse Cemetery (c/o Jerry Webster, 2447 SR T, Stoutland, MO 65567).
