Doyle Wayne Patton, 73, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. After 35 years, he retired from Smurfit-Stone Container Company as their structural design manager with 2 U.S. patents. He served as a United States Army Reservist. Cars and racing were his true passion as he was a drag racer in Division 3 of NHRA, building and racing some nine race cars. Children, however, were his true love.

He was born on July 18, 1941 in Taylor County, Kentucky, to the late Elam and Clyde (Martin) Patton. He is survived by the love of his life, Linda (Schmelz) Patton, his wife of almost 32 years and sister, Edith Hardin, and preceded in death by a brother, Joy Patton (Doris).

A reception of family and friends will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Memorial Service taking place at 3 PM.

Donations in Doyle’s memory may be made to Victory Junction Camp (4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317).
